Sweet Life (aka Freaky iPod VIII)

Over on qPlog, Hayes has done a MySpace quiz that I thought I would turn into a meme so others can join in. Get your music player or open your music library on your computer, make sure you have it on random and press play for the answer for the first question. For the answer to each subsequent question, just press forward and go to the next song. It was fun. Do it and then let me know so I can check out your list!

Song count: 11,634

1. How am I feeling today?
Freedom - Erasure

2. Will I get far in life?
Break It Down Again - Tears For Fears (this makes sense if I do go back to school)

3. How do my friends see me?
It’s No Good - Depeche Mode (gee, thanks, guys)

4. Where will I get married?:
Take Me Anywhere - Tegan & Sara (funny. It’s true)

5. What is my best friend’s theme song?:
Buttercup (I’m A Super Girl) - Shonen Knife (Hmmm, that fits so many friends. Either because they are super girls or they are fans of The Powerpuff Girls. Cool!)

Stupid Thing - Aimee Mann (that goes with the song that was #1 when I was born: "Somethin’ Stupid" by Frank & Nancy Sinatra)

7. What was high school like?:
Come On Y’all - Jaguar Skills (…let’s get this over with and on with real life)

8. How can I get ahead in life?
Mexico - Leona Naess (so I have to be kidnapped?)

9. What is the best thing about me?
Heroine - Shakespear’s Sister (I’LL SAVE YOU!!)

10. How is today going to be?
99 - Toto (I don’t know what it means either. Maybe I’ll watch "Get Smart" today.)

Gravity - Embrace

14. How is my life going?
Cheek To Cheek - Taco (so it’s going cheesily then)

15. What song will they play at my funeral?
Apart - Elkland (this song ended up on Hayes’ list. Freaky iPod! actually now that I think about it, this is a bit of a sad song to play at a funeral: "I want you to be here/I want it to be now")

Going Fetal - Eels (hahaha!)

17. Will I have a Happy Life?
Erased - Annie Lennox (eek)

25. What is my signature dancing song?
Tenderness - General Public (HAHAHA! So true! Everyone do the Molly Ringwald!)

Into The West - Annie Lennox (this is so appropriate after seeing the Lord Of The Rings Symphony and then having Leslie come up with the idea of doing it as Carol Channing for a show)

27. What does everyone else think my current theme song is?
Jesus In A Camper Van - Robbie Williams (WTF are you people thinking?)

28. What type of GUYS do you like?
Limbo Rock - Chubby Checker (so ones that are malleable? I can see that. Or is I like guys who can fold themselves into weird positions. Excellent!)

29. Now click next and that will be the subject of this bulletin:
Sweet Life - Paul Davis (ahhhhh)

30. Your overall theme song?
Sorry - Madonna (I do come with Mormon guilt as a standard feature)

As I was responding to comments on the Afternoon Delight post below, iTunes started to play the only other Starland Vocal Band in my collection, "Baby, You Look Good To Me Tonight". This song includes lyrics such as "And if there’s time to sleep/There’s time to make love" and "I may come easy/But I don’t come free". In my research on SVB today, I was surprised to find that "You Look Good" was never a single, but I distinctly remember hearing it as a kid. Someone around me owned the album I’m sure and, strangely, it wasn’t me. C’mon! I was NINE.

Earlier tonight I was talking to Mateo on the phone talking about what the next Carol Channing Bangs ‘Em Off spoof I was going to do for the Monkey’s Uncle shows. I told him that I was thinking of doing a duets album when he suddenly interjects various things to drivers and people on the sideway he passes. It’s fun to listen to. He screams at some guy and tells me that the guy is a "typical male". I, of course, start talking about Tina Turner’s Break Every Rule album, it’s my favorite of hers and then start singing to him: "Tell me lawyer/What to do/I think I’m falling/In love with you/Mmm-hmmm".

He laughs, tells me he thought it was a good rendition and then asked if Carol could do Tina. I try "Typical Male" as Carol. It doesn’t work too well; however, "Private Dancer" did.

So an hour later, I’m getting ready to go out to dinner with a friend and sit down in front of the computer after getting out of the shower to check my email when iTunes starts playing "Typical Male" as I’m opening my mail program. I suddenly realize that I was looking at the iTunes window with my head tilted like a dog listening to a odd noise and then come to my senses. Look, with over 11,000 songs in my library, it was just weird.

As soon as I posted my gushing blog about Pet Shop Boys & Madonna, I went to fix some tea (I’m feeling British today) and when I came back to sit down to get some work done, Eduardo started to play "Two Divided By Zero" by Pet Shop Boys. Eduardo loves me. Song count: 11,011 Wait! It just went to the next song and now I’m…

Listening to: You Only Tell Me You Love Me When You’re Drunk (Attaboy Still Love You When We’re Sober Mix) - Pet Shop Boys UPDATE: And after that it went to a mashup called, "Madam Madonna" featuring Felix Da Housecat and Madonna by DJ Earworm.
