Tomorrow Is The Big Day

Saturday, August 30th, 2008

This evening when I get home from the video store, it will be all about packing. Weee! For tomorrow is the big day. Cameron and I officially start living together. I’m actually very excited: excited to be in a new place, excited about starting a new phase in our relationship, but mostly excited about getting to know Cameron a little better…  okay, it will be a LOT better since it’s only a two-bedroom apartment. Tee-hee.

After almost two-and-a-half years, it’s getting to the point where when we are grumpy with each other, we almost immediately realize what we’ve done, apologize, explain and move on. It’s nice. Communication does wonders, eh? Not that there won’t be growing pains, but I’m more confident that I’m able to open up to him more after becoming guarded and cynical over the years. I’m sure now that will continue in a positive direction.

And, yes, I know. Pictures of the new place and the painting he did for me. They will be here soon. I have to wade through the packing first. “It’s fun. It’s fun. It’s fun…”

In the meantime, let’s broadcast some positive thoughts to the residents of coastal Louisiana. Gustav went from Category 1 to 3 overnight and is forecasted to be that strong when he hits. Let’s hope that he weakens well before he makes landfall in an area still not fully recovered from Katrina.

Comedy Central’s Indecision 2008 blog just posted this and it’s freakin’ hilarious. Someone has way too much time on their hands, but bless them for it. Big Daddy is certain to love it.

Light The Night Walk

Wednesday, August 27th, 2008

Yes, this is an ask.

On September 25, The Lymphonades will be walking to raise money for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. Why? Because they bailed me out of some medical expenses when I most needed it, so I would like to help others get the same great benefits I did.

The fun thing? We all get to carry illuminated balloons during the twilight hours in Denver’s beautiful Washington Park. I will carry a white one as I am a survivor. Red signifies supporters and gold in memory of ones lost in the battle. Crap, I’m getting all teary-eyed right now.

The evening will also include music, food and general socializing. I’ve asked several of my closest friends to walk with me and can’t wait to just be with them as they have all been my rocks through this. I’ve been told that our team name has been quite popular at presentations which means we have a good shot at an award called The Brilliant Team Name. There is even discussion of making team shirts. I’ll have to ask my graphic artist friends to pitch in.

If you would like to join the team and walk with us, let me know and I’ll send you to the correct place to register.

The button below will take you to my donation page where you can give even a little bit to help this great organization. Thank you so much in advance.
