Roundup – Week Of Sep 28
Friday, October 5th, 2007 at 9:52 am
The weekly collection of interesting reads from around the blogosphere.
Want to display your pride in making the roundup? Click here.
Today is the first day of the new day in which you will wake up during the day to find it’s the day that the Roundup is now on Fri-day. It’s my attempt to keep the weekend free for writing pieces intended for the following week. I call it keeping it fresh and attempting to maintain my sanity. You may call it lazy. You would be wrong. In fact, I’m changing the tagline for the blog to read: “All Are Wrong Who Enter Here!”. It keeps me superior and you quiet during study hall. Plus it sounds like a cool Tolkien reference. Heh-heh. Snort.
Those who are new here that was a joke. This series is all about everyone else, so to start things off The Spicy Cauldron extended its writing contest deadline to Sunday, Oct 7. It’s simple. Post something where ‘cauldron’ is used somehow — poetry, pictures, exposition, an actual spell that works (if you do that let me know pronto). Once you’re done, post it to your blog and then put a link to it in the comment section of this post. Jami and Hayes have done it. Not that it would be incentive, but it should be! Good luck!
dr. xnlb posted this fascinating video about an artist who does reverse graffiti by wiping away dirt to create his art.
Ever thought about paying for a hooker? Scott-O-Rama attempts to think it through to its logical conclusion. It’s a good piece whether you agree or not.
Scott also pointed us out to these horrible stories from Phoenix on Cactus Soup. And people wonder why I get so pissed off and bitter about our fellow humans.
Yeah, horrible, right? So here’s something to make you squeal with delight!
Bossy tells the true love story of two doves.
It’s been a year since I heard the best dog story ever and so Angelo takes over for The Hermit to show how much he’s loved staying. Make sure you click the link in the post to the original story. It’ll make you feel good.
And finally, here is a wonderful haiku written by Jami that completely reflects the picture that inspired it. It’s beautifully bittersweet.

You’re welcome. It really is a great haiku. You definitely have a gift for them.

I don’t know a spell that involves a cauldron, but I do know a spell that works :)
Friday always seemed like a better day to do a round-up anyway. I briefly considered following in your footsteps and doing one too, but then I remember how inconsistent I can be. So I’ll just read yours instead.

“Today is the first day of the new day in which you will wake up during the day to find it’s the day that the Roundup is now on Fri-day.”
Bossy loves everything but the waking up part. Does she have to?

Nathan: Hahaha. It seems that I’ve inspired many at this point and this seems to be a mostly unlikely series to become popular. I’m glad people are enjoying it though.
Bossy: When I say day, I mean as long as the sun is still up.

I knew it was the end of the world when I saw this headline:

Is there a particular spell you’d love to have, Howard? I sense a blog entry coming soon to a Cauldron that’s Spicy near you… Well, cyberspatially near you…
And Nathan, what’s the spell? You didn’t say… :-))))

I tried a haiku. But I could not get it right. So I punched a poet.

Andy: At this point, I would like a spell that will bring luck to a certain baseball team here in Denver. :)
Angelo: Excuse me, I have to go clean my glasses now.
Lord Likely: It seems you have done it incorrectly again, sir. Good show anyway, chap.

@Nathan
I know a banishing spell that involves a cauldron.

Thanks for including me in your round up again… and to think I was feeling like I was cheating at my blog last week (it was primarily video stuff). :)
