The weekly collection of interesting reads from around the blogosphere.

In a few short hours I hope to find myself at my birthday party. I know it’s happening tonight, but not where or what’s going on and I’m quite content with that. I have been told by several though that I am going to have sooo much fun. Can’t wait. In the meantime, here is this week’s roundup.

Firstly, Lorne emailed me a link that turned out to be the revealing of Cap’n Crunch’s full name.

Godwhacker posted this set of videos that put together are the Birthday episode of “Absolutely Fabulous” where Edina turns 40. Yeah, it was for my birthday and I realize I’m putting it in my own Roundup. “I know it sounds selfish, sweetie, but it’s me, me, me!”

Hayes also posted a birthday tribute for me. Tee-hee.

“They already have our home address, dimwits!”

Paul has been posting some of his songs on his site and this one got completely entangled in my brain.

Funny stuff:
He was bitten by a spider and received amazing powers: an erection from Hell.

A new read for me — Chinglishness. This particular entry made me laugh my ass off and then wonder if it ended up at the restaurant.

Olivia wanted to let everyone know how she feels about your driving.

Craig, on the other hand, had some great advice for those looking into a career in superheroing.

Dr. Jeff Masters, meteorologist extraordinaire (yes, I read meteorology blogs AND I have a boyfriend. Put that myth in your low pressure system and try to rain on it.), talks about how it’s not the major weather disasters that are killing us, it’s the boring ones you never think about.

Why hadn’t someone thought of this before? It blows my mind… and my hair.

Squeal moment: Imperial Teen is finished with their new album. The Hair, the TV, the Baby and the Band will be out August 21st. SQUEAL!

And finally, the winner of the Spicy Cauldron Poetry Contest was announced and it was Sue! She had a great poem that not only was fun, but was formatted in an original way that really catches the eye. Congrats, Sue, and thank you so much, Andy, for having the contest and trying to inspire us to write something we don’t normally. Expanding into new territories within your mind — not national borders — is challenging and healthy.

Listening to: “Rough Boys” - Pete Townshend
Pete Townshend - Empty Glass - Rough Boys

UPDATE: Andy reminded me of one I forgot to mark for inclusion here. Hot Doctor Wife has a ghost in her house. The incidents are very spooky to read.

  1. Jeff C. Says:

Happy Birthday, Howa…wait, Imperial Teen’s still together? Cool!

  2. Howard Says:

Yeah, I was surprised, too! And I think it’s the original line-up. One of the women left to have a baby. Can’t wait to here it!

  3. Godwhacker Says:

Oh “Rough Boys” is such a classic! My ears are envious… now where did I put that album?

  4. Howard Says:

It should be in your digital library, mister! What’s funny is that my alarm radio was playing “Let My Love Open The Door” when it went off this morning.

  5. Felicia Says:

Happy Birthday to you….Happy Birthday to you…..Happy Birthday Dear Howard….Did the skeleton (which looked like a blast in that picture on HDW site) steal your shoe? I had to change it because of all the copyright stuff you know LOL :)

I hope you had a FANTASTIC One!!!!

  6. Howard Says:

Thanks, Felicia! I did. I’ll be posting about it later this week.

  7. belledame222 Says:

  8. Howard Says:

    Thanks!

  9. Andy Says:

I hope you had a wonderful birthday bash, I am sure your friends over there did you proud and only wish I was Mr Rich when it came to bank balance as I would have flown over to join in the celebrations! But me and D are still hoping and praying we can get over later this year for a well-earned break and to see you and the rest of the motley bunch we’ve encountered through you online.

I have no experience of anything by Pete Townshend or The Who. Other than the various CSI intro themes. Oh, and okay - Tommy. Pinball Wizard. So some, I guess. Not much. x

  10. Howard Says:

It was indeed fun and need to finish my birthday party post soon. I love Pete’s stuff from that era.
