History Repeating?
Wednesday, May 30th, 2007 at 1:11 pmToday is Ms. Joan Of Arc’s Deathday. She died in 1431 after claiming that voices from God were telling her to go to war. She gained popularity thus enabling her to achieve her goals. Later her enemies in government convicted her of hearsay and had her burned at the stake. Almost 500 years later the Catholic church made her a saint.
Replacement fun!
Today is President George W. Bush’s 2,322nd day in office. His support died after claiming that voices from God were telling him to go to war. After 9/11, he gained popularity thus enabling him to achieve his goals. Later his enemies in government couldn’t even muster up enough support to even slap him on the wrist. Hopefully, that means that we won’t have to hear the term “Saint Bush” half a millennium from now.
Thanks, Cameron, for the Joan of Arc idea.

Impeach Bush! Wait … if he gets impeached and then removed from office, Darth Cheney will become President. Oh, shit! Now what do we do? Maybe we should just hunker down for another year and a half and hope for a Democratic Congress. What? Oh, double SHIT! (Something about a rock and hard place?)

I’ve no idea what to do. Congress is just an ineffective when they aren’t kowtowing to the executive branch. Well, I guess they still are caving in.

Don’t compare Joan of Arc to Bush. Joan of Arc was the first girl warrior. She strapped on chain mail and led men into battle. Naturally the burned at the stake.
And they did that because she was raped and her clothes were taken and she was forced to wear pants. And at least Joan won her war…

Plus both of them suffer from mental health problems that are compounded by some seeing them as strengths, not problems at all! x

And Philip, know your history a little better! Centuries before Joan there was Boudicca. She, too, was raped and tortured and became so pissed off she took the tribe of Celts she led and laid waste to thousands of Roman invaders here in Britain.
And I am sure that before Boudicca there were many other women warriors in the world. Pants on or off. :-)

Good ol’ Joan of Arc
“It’s tough to follow in the footsteps of someone who heard the voice of God at age 13, led the French army at age 17, and was burned at the stake at age 19. Just ask Joan of Arc. She’s managed to accomplish exactly none of these things. But most disappointingly, she can’t even get Abe to see her as more than just “one of the guys.” Sigh. Being Joan of Arc is no picnic, but luckily her cynical attitude and wry wit keep her afloat. She’s a counterculture girl who isn’t afraid to speak her mind while she searches for deeper meaning and artistry in the shallowness of high school.”

I don’t know. It’s entirely possible that the Catholic church or some fundamental American branch will deify ol’ Bushie when he’s gone.

Mr. Fab:
I’m sure you’ve spongebathed a few of them, too.
Andy:
A history lesson on this blog? How dare you, sir! Welcome back! :)
Kevin:
Where did that quote come from… nevermind, I’ll just email you and ask. :)
Jeff:
You’re welcome!
Eric:
That wouldn’t surprise me at all.

You just need a wooden post and you’re golden!

The line that Joan of Arc was the first girl warrior was a line from a television show, I don’t really claim to know who the first girl warrior was. It just seemed to fit.
But from what I understand of Boudica she was raped before she went to war. Not that that makes it acceptable or anything.
And just because a person claims to talk to God or is religious, doesn’t mean they have a mental disorder…

All a point of view, I’m thinking. You can claim anything is anything in our own realities. I think writing and maintaining a blog is a mental disorder. We all have something cracked or fractured about us. Let just leave it at that.

I agree that we all have something cracked or fractured. I don’t agree that it’s all a point of view, but for sake of maintaining order on someone else’s blog, I’ll leave it alone.

So from your point of view, it’s not a point of view? Tee-hee, sorry. Couldn’t help trying to inject some humor into this.
Right or wrong depends on your beliefs and if they aren’t shared we as a species wouldn’t learn anything.
So thank you for sharing yours, Phillip.
And, no, that wasn’t sarcasm.
