When I Was Four, This Was Da Bomb
Wednesday, April 25th, 2007 at 8:01 amYeah, it’s another Scooby-Doo set-up with kids solving mysteries with the colonial ghost of Jonathan Wellington “Mudsy” Muddlemore and his cat, Boo, but I loved it. So much in fact, my parents got me a vinyl record of the theme song and some audio of some episodes. Yes, Mudsy sounds like Snagglepuss (eeeeven) and the mysteries turned out to be lame, but dig this groovy theme song, man. It’s Funky Phantom time!
Listening to: “Burning Up” - Kylie Minogue

Huh, never caught that one. Very groovy indeed.

The Funky Phantom made me gay the same way Snagglepuss did. Did I just type that out loud? I’m so embarrassed. Exit! Stage right even!

Can’t see it here at work, but oh yeah, Snagglepuss was fuh-laming, even.

Godwhacker:
Here you go, Sweetie. Now watch your cartoons and don’t bother Mommy this morning.
Hayes:
I never thought of that, but I think you’re right!

OK just watched it. NEVER saw that before. NEVER.
But I wondered the same thing about Speed Buggy. Although it was a little more Schlepp Car in that clip.

It is bad enough that childhood blurs into one mish mash of memories on a good day, but this sort of video doesnt help clarify anything!! Looks sort of familiar, like a cross of several shows rolled into one. Those darned kids, confusing me again.

And I thought the vehicle was the precursor of the Glampetts’, in Beverly Hillbillies!

Kevin:
I’m not surprised. It was only on for one season. I think I know why now.
Ed:
Yeah, I only remember it because of that album I had.
Hermit:
Actually, that’s funny!
