Roundup - Week Of Apr 7

The weekly collection of interesting reads from around the blogosphere.

I’m officially on vacation! Wooo! Which explains this being a day late. The Monkeys had a great performance last night for a nurse practitioners’ organizations’ conference. Matt2 killed us all by delivering Larry’s twins in an elevator. At one point during the scene, Mateo, Shari and I all stopped laughing and just stared at each other incredulously wondering from where Matt2 was channeling it. He was on fire. Hopefully that will carry over to tomorrow night at our show. On to the round up!

Wow, I was looking at the list I had put together and almost all are funny this week. In that case, let’s start with Kevin’s hilarious take on the well-to-do.

Jeff had this story about Johnny Cash’s house — owned by Barry Gibb — burning down. I won’t make jokes here, because I used up all my Bee Gees puns in the comment section. He also turned me on to this great 80’s site that has all sorts of mixes and remixes that you can grab. It’s totally tubular!

Amy Winehouse is doing her damnest to bring back traditional R&B and Scott posted my favorite song from her new album — “Rehab”. It’s sad, powerful, emotional and — at the same time — hilarious in its setup. Go listen!

Here’s the one serious post I loved. Godwhacker shared this map showing where we could put up solar panels across the world to give us more power than we could need. There are seven places. That’s right. ONLY seven.

Every now and then some young artist just has that ‘thing’. Scott and Michael found Lil Mama and her song, “Lip Gloss”. It’s so simple and completely reminescent of the attitudes of high school. Pure fun.

Shorties
Christine Ricci is playing Trixie in Speed Racer. Trixie never had bigger boobs.

Not THAT Different had this great apology form letter.

I adore Puntabulous’ one-on-one arguments. This week’s was especially good.

And finally, in typical Heather-style, Clizbiz had an overview of three American heroes. This is an outstanding post. Thanks for the great writing, Heather.

‘Rehab’ has long been a favourite in this house, as has the entire album. Amy Winehouse is wonderful. x

    Kevin:
No prob. It was a damn funny post.

    Andy:
Yeah, I’m growing to like her a lot.

I saw Matt after the nurses show and he was humble about his performance. Now I just realize he uses up all his funny on people who pay to hear him tell jokes :(
Clint enjoyed the show last night, sorry I couldn’t be there.

  5. The Hermit Says:

Uh oh. I’m not one of the places that could solve the world’s energy crisis by putting up hundreds of square kilometers of solar panels. Still, it’s an interesting concept, but imagine the impact we could ALL have if we just put a couple of panels on our roofs?

Enjoy your vacation! Lollygag, relax, and enjoy….

  6. Jeff C. Says:

Thanks for the shout out! Sorry I missed your show Monday - I came down with a nasty stomach bug and thought I was going to puke my guts out. So I stayed by my own personal toilet instead of having to sneak out of your show to go to the Jack’s toilet. It never happened, but I thought it was going to. Or else I was going to go Sigourney on the world and give birth to an Alien through my stomach.

    Have a great vacation.

  7. ClizBiz Says:

Ditto from Jeff on the shout out! Much appreciated, especially since I’ve been so blog-lazy of late.

GREAT show on Monday. I laughed my ass off.
