Love For Our Robot Overlords Mix

UPGRADE TO MIX AVAILABLE HERE

I realized the other day that I hadn’t done a theme mix in a while. In fact, the last one was the hold music for the special edition of Jive Talkin’, so I’ve been itchin’ to do another.

This one is all about robots. The heart of the mix is a bunch of songs about female lovebots which I used on a Monkey’s Uncle mix. When doing some research to flesh out (HA! flesh out!) the mix, I noticed that none of the robot song lists I found had the Lenny Kravitz, ELO, Duran Duran or The Buggles songs on them. I guess it takes a gay man to help his gay sisters and straight brethren get some female robot lovin’.

There are some fun surprises mixed in and the last song turned out more serious than I expected, but I really wanted to use the speech at the end of The Day The Earth Stood Still to make a point. What Klaatu has to say is just as relevant today as it was in 1951. Besides, I wanted to show my love for robots, so when they do take over, I’ll be held in higher esteem.

UPDATE: I made some tweaks to the mix including replacing one file due to my computer not ripping the song correctly. I think I have one of the CD they warned us would deteriorate — Howard Jones’ Dream Into Action. Thanks, Andy, for coming to the rescue with that one. I ordered a replacement CD last night. If you have downloaded the mix, you can certainly do it again although I’m not sure most will hear the difference.

When I Was Four, This Was Da Bomb

Yeah, it’s another Scooby-Doo set-up with kids solving mysteries with the colonial ghost of Jonathan Wellington “Mudsy” Muddlemore and his cat, Boo, but I loved it. So much in fact, my parents got me a vinyl record of the theme song and some audio of some episodes. Yes, Mudsy sounds like Snagglepuss (eeeeven) and the mysteries turned out to be lame, but dig this groovy theme song, man. It’s Funky Phantom time!

Outage

Sorry for the outage yesterday. I upgraded my account with Bizland and chose the plan with no database script support. Oops! All set now with lots of storage space and bandwidth, so bring on the readership and whatnot.

Cinco De Desnudo

Monday, April 23rd, 2007

I have no idea how Cameron found this, but it’s hilarious. May 5th is not only the day of celebration of the Mexican victory over French forces in 1862 nor it is merely two days after my birthday, it is cause for throwing off your clothes and streaking around your garden! Yes, May 5, 2007, is…

WORLD NAKED GARDENING DAY

I love nudity. It’s funny most of the time. Plus I hate clothes and wish people would just get over their prudishness; however, what I am against — and this is purely a personal opinion — is being naked and working with sharp (shudder) cutting tools.

If you choose to participate, here are some tips worth not trimming:

  • Make sure you are pruning the correct vine.
  • Chose the best hoe for the job. Don’t just pick something up off the street.
  • Only fertilize if you have a privacy fence installed. Trust me, no one wants to see that much.
  • Double check that you’ve turned on the correct hose.
  • If you do decide to take a bike ride through your garden, do us all a favor and wash the seat. Before mounting make sure there is a seat.
  • Come May 5th and it’s a little chilly, you may cover yourself to keep warm as long as it’s shear.
  • When working with cattails or bulrushes, watch where you are squatting.
  • No, that is not what is meant by trimming the hedge. Do that inside.
  • No, that is not what is meant by ‘eating in the garden’. Help her off her back and go tend to her pussy willow.
  • And lastly, I’ll thank you very much to not refer to it as merely a twig. ‘Limb’ would be much more appropriate.

Most of it anyway.
