This is an outstanding song and the video just makes it that much better. Here is “Danger! High Voltage!” from Electric Six.

Roundup - Week Of Feb 17

Saturday, February 24th, 2007

The weekly collection of interesting reads from around the blogosphere.
Want to display your pride in making the roundup? Click here.

Yes, it’s back. I am so tired from doing two comedy shows this week, but people complained about there not being a Roundup (Hayes), so here I am at 11:30 pm waiting for another storm to come in and eating some Vanilla Creme Frosted Mini-Wheats. Have you had them? Yum! And now the roundup…

Let’s start with some cartoon/comic news.

Dilbert has been licensed for a live action movie.

Justice League Of America has been licensed for a live action movie.

Venture Bros. — no, not going to be live action — yet — creator Jackson Publick gave this great podcast interview.

Hubs found this list of rules of cartoon physics. (Love this stuff!)

So Republican Wyoming Representative Dan Zwonitzer probably ruined his political career by standing up against a bill that would have banned recognition of same-sex marriage in his state. The one just to the north of me. The one that is known for wind, beautiful stretches of highway, intolerance, bigotry and violence. Pam’s House Blend has the story and even the Representative’s email if you wish to voice your support of this extremely brave heterosexual man.

Hayes posted a couple of videos to make a point about homophobia.

Spencer and Scott Adams had separate write-ups about John Amaechi coming out and reaction from the NBA. The two pieces are from different angles, but both make their point extremely well. [UPDATE: The Scott Adams link isn't working. Here's the reason. Google Reader still has it stored which is cool]

Jestertunes had a near run-in with a bigot.

Here is a great piece on the media from Godwhacker.

Like losing-your-virginity stories? Kav’s got a great one.

Foolish human! How dare you think that other worlds have atmospheres made of moisture!

Andy had some harrowing moments with one his cats that left it without one of his hind legs. I’m sure since Mandrake was fine, Andy was feeling all mushy and decided to prove that I talk too much.

And finally, two things from the tech world:
The Super Nintendo is outselling the PS3.

Gizmodo also asks if you could live without your computer for a day — that day being March 24. It’s a Saturday so will it count if I use a work computer simply to do my job?

A United United Kingdom

Thursday, February 22nd, 2007

After helping the Rodents with their benefit show last night we all went out to Steuben’s to have some of their crack fries. Yes, crack fries. They put something in the fries to make them extra good and addictive. Normally, we go through about three cans of them. Not kidding.

Anyway, Matthew Taylor, the ‘E’ in A.C.E. (meaning he’s English) opened for the Rodents and came out to gnash with us. In the midst of making fun of him because he was drinking Pabst Blue Ribbon, Jeff and I hit upon the solution for putting the ‘united’ back into United Kingdom — run Microsoft’s Defragmenter on the entire country.

Yes, this will cause some to be relocated and pushed closer together and there will be some unmovable sectors, but we think those will be buildings (only the blue ones, of course). This will have two positive effects: 1)People that close HAVE to deal with each other — okay, maybe that’s not such a hot idea, but 2)There will be massive opens spaces for the cramped humans to visit to get away from each other.

Huh? Good idea, eh? We’re proud of it. We’re thinking of suggesting running it on the Mason-Dixon line and in Quebec. You see what kinds of ideas that cooperative brainstorming can produce? Try it! Soon we’ll be living in the utopian world of Star Trek with only ugly, smelly, culturally-different aliens to fight wi….

Nevermind.
