Roundup - Week Of Jan 20

The weekly collection of interesting reads from around the blogosphere.

I’ve been sick all week and so didn’t read much. There was one point Bloglines had 400+ posts for me so marked them all read and crawled back to the couch and promptly feel asleep.

The big news is that Scott-O-Rama made the cut as a finalist for the Bloggies. If you look at the list, you can see the company he is in with many other huge blogs. Why not head over there, check out the list and cast a vote for Scott-O-Rama in the GLBT category?

Andy had another ghostly pet encounter.

It seems that Hayes talked Dan into moving his blog so now the entire household is in the Utopian grip of WordPress!

And finally, Craig had a great list of cartoon sidekicks and their gayness factor. Two of them I disagree with.

1. Patrick Star only got a gay factor of 3? I offer to the court these two pieces of evidence:

2. Jabberjaw? -67434? C’mon, just because YOU find him annoying doesn’t mean the rest of us do, Shark Bigot! Nyuk, nyuk. Yipes! Craig’s after us. Run! Nieff! Woo-woo-woo-woo-woo-woo….

Thank you so much for the mention. I think you are the one responsible for me being on that list in the first place. The Web Pen Blog should be on that list too, IMHO. I owe you one.

I hope you’re feeling better. Stay in bed and watch bad TV all weekend. By the sounds of your forecast, you may not have a choice.

P.S. Did I mention it’s supposed to get to 68Ëš today? 70Ëš tomorrow!

  2. History Chic Says:

Awww sweet hope you get better soon. I have done that in bloglines before, sometimes there is too much to read!!!

Scott deserves the kudos, he rocks :)

  3. Kath Says:

    Feel better honey!

  4. Andy Says:

Thanks Howard, and hope you’re feeling better! If you’re not using the Sideblog plugin because of 2.1 compatibility, what are you using instead? x

  5. Craig Says:

You can’t tell me that you actually like Jabberjaw. He is the worst cartoon creation ever…created.

If you actually like him, then you DESERVE to be sick!

    GASP!

I take it back! Get better!

    Scott:
Not a problem. You truly deserve it from your writing to the look & feel of the blog. All original and fun to read. You owe me one… Hmmm.. how about the next time you and Buckeroo go out of town, I come down and housesit. That way, I got some time to myself. :)

    HC & Kath:
    Thanks, sweeties!

    Andy:
Sorry, I guess I worded that wrong. The Sideblog plugin was causing the problems, but after I did the clean install, it started to work correctly. When I was reinstalling my plugins, I may have grab an update to that plugin without realizing it, too.

    Craig:
Be that as it may, you still did not respond to the pieces of evidence on Patrick Star. …and thanks!

  7. Craig Says:

Fine! Perhaps the two clips are slightly gay in nature!

    (That’s just me in denial)

  8. Howard Says:

Thank you. That makes me rushing around ripping the audio from a DVD and being late to work because of trying to get it on the blog well worth the effort.

  9. Andy Says:

Apparently Sideblog still isn’t compatible, so you’re very lucky - I’ve had to work around the problem as I’ve no intention of ditching the asides (the plugin is one of the reasons for post duplication if using more than one category on a post).

I’ve got a new comments plugin that’s pretty nifty as my old one wasn’t fully compatible, apparently, with WordPress 2.1. So now I’ve got MyBlogLog avatars on the front page instead of just the names of commentators.

I was going to include a plugin that lets folks see when I’m online in Messenger but it wasn’t very clever in that it revealed my email address to the world and every spammer on the planet! x
