Roundup – Week Of Dec 9

The weekly collection of interesting reads from around the blogosphere.
Let us start off this week with a new discovery of mine — John Sibley’s For Your Entertainment. One funny picture and one disturbing article about some John McCain legislation that would crack down on blogs to go, please.
Clizbiz had her posse surprise visit her (yes, I just verbed a noun) in this fun story.
This is a fun find for anyone needed testimonials that Hubs found.
In the news, scientists have determined the white dolphin is indeed extinct and the government refuses to make it easier for those who are blind to differentiate between denominations of money.
Craig at Puntabulous hangs his stocking by the chimney with care.
Scott-O-Rama writes about the two faces of Christianity in this great post. (And I have a little fun and get a little bit serious in the comments)
The Spicy Cauldron has a gift for you and writes about Annual World Pie Eating contest which caused the following phrase which I would like to nominate the best combinations of words for 2006: "unfair lubricative advantage".
Axl Rose has announced that Chinese Democracy — an album delayed for over 10 years — has a release date finally… and it’s tentative. Yawn!
Speaking of music, John C. Reilly delivered his letter to Santa on Aimee Mann’s Another Drifter In The Snow blog.
You HAVE to watch this video over at Cute Overload.
And finally, the 2006 Weblog Awards are over. There has been accusations of cheating, trash talk and just plain fun sucking going on due to it; however, there was a ray of light. My favorite science blog, Bad Astronomy, had a friendly tease-a-thon going on with his main competitor, Pharyngula. (Pharyngula appears to have won, but votes are not yet finalized.) In fact, they made a bet as to what one had to do for the other depending on the winner. Read about the fun side of competition here. And while your over there, you have to see this beautiful picture of Saturn.

I didn’t know CNN had covered the story. So gravy gives an unfair lubricative advantage eh?
Linda McCartney vegetarian pies have gravy in them. I presume the ones in the competition were kind of dry.
If you ever saw Wigan, you’d know this is a big news story. If I wanted to be depressed, I would visit my parents and then go out into the countryside overlooking Wigan – it’s close to the town my parents live in – and just check out the grey mass of buildings. It’s grim up north, Southerners say. Well, no. Only in Wigan. And maybe Burnley. And Rochdale. Oh, and Halifax. And Blackburn.
The countryside, however, beats anything the South has to offer for interesting terrain. The South of England is so flat… x

And that pic of Saturn looks the skies over England these past few weeks. Only a tad more interesting. x
