Not Again!

It’s like my 80’s nightmare all over again. Why can’t they all just get along?
Billboard reported that Andy Taylor has, yet again, left Duran Duran. Why? The same as last time. The band is heading in a direction he doesn’t like so he quit. Oh, wait. I’m sorry. The "official" reason is there was an "unworkable gulf", which means that the monster, Ego, came to visit again.
Some of you may be surprised that I’m a huge Duran Duran fan, but it’s always been. It’s a thing that can’t be helped. Yes, I do own all of their albums — even the ones from the 90’s and 00’s (I like to call them the Naughties). In fact, if you enjoy Duran Duran, but have lost track of their music, I would highly recommend finding a used copy of 2000’s Pop Trash. It’s an amazing pop album reminiscent of their 80’s music mixed with 60’s psychedelica and modern techno. Unfortunately, Hollywood Records has already pulled it from their catalog, but you can find it on Internet stores that sell used items like Amazon.
The good news is that they are going back into the studio soon to record a new album.
Fine, it’s good news to me.

I read that he left again and the rest of the band will carry on without him again. They truly are like a family…i love you, i hate you, i don’t get enough attention, you don’t listen to me, i’m never talking to you again, and then the kiss and makeup. I’m kind of sad but they seemed to go on after the first time so it should be ok :)

Tee hee… “the naughties.”

HC: Yeah, I didn’t think it would last that long. Andy was the one that left first last time.
Lorne: I thought I had told you that before.

I like Duran Duran but think their career has suffered some major misses as well as hits, often in part down to changes in line-up. I’ve got everything they’ve ever done but still like their first self-named album the best. That was in the days when Le Bon looked quite pretty in his lip gloss and eyeliner… x

Surprised that you’re a huge Duran Duran fan? No, say it isn’t so! I’m not surprised. I’m SHOCKED! That’s like finding out your your your…
Okay, my sarcastic keyboard just broke and now my sincere, honest keyboard has taken over. Plus I couldn’t really think of any super metaphors to describe how shocked I am. I mean, really, you like Human League, you like The Archies, it would never stand to reason that you’d like Duran Duran, too. You, sir, are a huge music fan. Hungry like the wolf, indeed.
Carry on.

Bwahahahahaha! The Archies…? It’s crack of dawn here and I’m not getting that one. I meant to say on my blog, after your revelation you bought the latest Robbie Williams album, I thought he wasn’t well-known at all in the US? Or is he a niche Anglophile interest?
My beloved hates The Human League. I put up with his short-term infatuation with The Vengaboys for quite a while but thankfully he doesn’t like them anymore. He was 19 at the time. I was 31. And no, he hunted me like he was hungry like the wolf, not the other way round. Seriously. I was caught with a net. It’s weird how people said it wouldn’t last, we both lost friends when we hooked up and now, eight years later, I’m pushing 40 and he’s 27 and we appreciate and love each other all the more.
Altogether now: ahhhhhhh (or, if infected with deep cynicism, bleah. Take yer pick!). x
