Yip Yip Yip Yip Yip Yip Yip Yip

Because of all the other Sesame Street bits I’ve seen lately, I went looking for my favorite. Remember this? The Martians and the phone. I used to imitate this all the time.

Irony On Wheels

As I made my way into the parking garage this morning going to work, pull in behind a silver Corvette who I then have to following around the entire lot as he makes his way to the exit and I make my way to the lower level.

At 8 MPH.

That’s right, as others whip around the parking facility at 25 endangering everyone walking into the building, the guy in the Corvette is testing everyone’s patience by going the same speed that causes my Jetta to lock the doors. Meaning he was barely hitting the speed that Volkswagen thinks could kill you.

At first I was ticked because I was running late; but, when I realized that it was a Corvette, I laughed my way down to my space and started off my work day in a decent mood.

And Here Is My First

Tuesday, August 22nd, 2006

First posting done through WordPress. Whoooo! Exciting, eh? Oh, yes, that means the move has happened. This blog is no longer using Blogger.

New Subscription Feed! Had to be done, sorry. I couldn’t figure out how to make the Feed URL the same, so please change your RSS subscriptions to:

http://www.thewebpen.net/blog/feed

Hmmmm, not quite used to this editing window either. And I HAVE to find a spell check plug-in.

The transfer isn’t complete. I still have plenty of editing to do to some of the posts since the import feature didn’t quite bring everything over, but I’ll work on that as I can.

Testing New Waters

Tuesday, August 22nd, 2006

Over the next few weeks I’ll be testing out WordPress to see if moving the blog completely onto my own site is correct for my needs. Blogger has been a great start, but they are missing some features that I would like to incorporate such as categorizing posts since there are over 200 on here now; however, WordPress is missing some features like spell check (I’m addicted to it). The good news is that WordPress seems to have many plug-ins to deal with this. Blogger is rolling out a beta version with several new features, but those of us who publish to a server other than Blog*Spot are getting a bit of a shaft since they are trying to entice us back on their servers, which I don’t want to do as I want the blog to have a WebPen address and not a ‘http://thisismyblog.blogspot.com’ type URL.

The delay will mostly be caused by creating a template again in order for the blog to look like the rest of the site. As you can see on the test site that it installs a default template. I just learned how to code CSS files and now need to figure out PHP. It seems relatively simple in the fact that it creates a web site from different parts (if I understand it correctly), so I need to break the WebPen template into pieces. I think. Like I said, I need to do a little learnin’ before — and if — I make the move.

Why am I telling you this? Because posts may be more sporadic as I learn the in’s and out’s of WordPress.
