Roundup – Week of July 22

Saturday, July 29th, 2006 at 8:08 am

The weekly collection of interesting reads from around the blogosphere.

The biggest news of the week? No, not Lance Bass being gay, which was reported here, here and here. No, not that the House passed a bill banning social Internet sites from federally funded libraries. Nor is it that some Southern states actually elected openly gay persons to their governments. The big news is that Scott-O-Rama somehow got his hands on the new SCISSOR SISTERS single! Listen!

(I just got up this moring to KBCO playing "Take Your Mama". It was weird to wake up to the Scissor Sisters much less waking up to having KBCO playing them. I wonder if that’s a good sign for their upcoming album release)

Pam’s House Blend had several great stories this week. An author got tired of his congressperson’s narrow attitude and decided to do something about it in this great story on her site. She also reported about a Kansas B&B owner is receving nothing but crap for displaying the rainbow flag even though he didn’t know what it meant and then refused to take it down saying that gays and lesbians are more than welcome there.

Kristen over at Abbondanza had to improv dress someone at her office this week.

Local Denver blogger, Rosie, stood up to some uppity women at a bus station this week and uses it as a plea for people to use public transportation a little more often. It’s a great read.

Hubs pointed us to a site where you can request an interuption to your work day.

Scott Adams has a solution to the turmoil over in the Middle East.

Rolling Stone does this once every other year or so, but here is their updated list of the "Best 500 Songs Of All Time".

In other music news, Chris Cornell, formerly of Soundgarden and now with Audioslave, is co-writing and singing the new Bond theme. ABC frontman Martin Fry is coaching Hugh Grant to sing in his upcoming film. As a sidenote, I’m a fan of ABC and their first album, The Lexicon Of Love, is one of my favorite albums of all time. One of these days, I’ll start listing those since it’s been requested from time to time.

And finally, Heather over at ClizBiz sent me an email to Charles Phoenix’s site to see the kitschest pictures ever collected. Below is this week’s picture which I love especially the woman in the black dress who is dressed as a 60s Jody Watley. Love it! Be sure to check out last week’s pic of the ultimate in young man/older woman love.
