Why Do Brains Suddenly Appear?

Tuesday, July 25th, 2006

I’m such a huge fan of the Carpenters that I would actually listen to Zombie Karen sing their songs!

"Would you care for some brains, Zombie Karen?"

"No, thanks. Richard said I look fat."

The Next Blog Reading

Monday, July 24th, 2006

Tomorrow night at the Avenue Theater, I will be doing another blog reading in the vein of Matthew Taylor of A.C.E. He has a one man show called Tales Of An Englishman, so I’ll be mocking paying homage to him with Tales Of A Gayman.

I’ll be "opening" for the Rodents Of Unusual Size with my story, The Lilith Condom, which you may have read here as the 200th post — only you get to hear the author tell it. That reminds me, I have to get a black school notebook to complete my Matthew Taylor imitation. …maybe a music stand, too, you know, just to be pompous.

P.S. I’ll be up in the booth doing lights and sound, too.

You Can Get A Longer Kong!

Saturday, July 22nd, 2006

Peter Jackson has announced he is making an extended version of King Kong with over 200 extra special effects shots and 13 more minutes making the runtime for the film a nice and lovely 3 hours and 21 minutes. Frankly, that’s the longest Kong I’ll ever see.

Not sure if I can handle it either, but knowing how I am, I’ll try. I love a challenge.

I knew he was going to do this when there was no commentary on the regular old plain version of the film on DVD — single or double disc version. Jackson knows us geeks well enough to know that we’ll be suckered into buying a new 3-disc version. *SIGH*

Not only that, but he is re-releasing the Lord Of The Rings series — the theatrical and extended versions — on two disc box sets for each of the three films. Not going to be suckered into this one, Jackson. No way! What? New documentaries? Uh, okay, here’s the cash. Don’t tell anyone that I’m addicted to your movies. Now get out of here before I call the cops, ya damn Kiwi!

Roundup - Week of July 15

Saturday, July 22nd, 2006

The weekly collection of interesting reads from around the blogosphere.

Jimbo had some very funny code names and definitions for the typical people he sees out.

Darren Hayes came out this week by telling everyone that he was married… to a man. My friend Hayes posted about at qPlog as did Shan at Blurbology.

Heather has done another great write-up on Cliz Biz (I just love her writing style — stinging & funny). This time about Wal-Mart. I love her analogy about the large group of angry women.

The fighting in Israel? Turns out it’s we gays’ fault. Pam’s House Blend has the story.

Good Morning Silcon Valley tells us that anti-virus program you have running constantly on your computer? 80% Useless. Rhetorical question: What kind of power trip are virus writers on?

Okay, enough bad news. Here is some art. On John Sadowski’s site there is a picture of a gallery of beautifully folded plates.

This is damn cool. This lobster GREW this way with half of its body developing with regular pigments and the other half missing the blue. Read more about it on National Geograpic’s site.

My favorite new cartoon has won its first Emmy during the Technical Awards. "Foster’s Home For Imaginary Friends" won for Individual Achievment For Outstanding Character Development. It’s also nominated for Best Animated Series against "Camp Lazlo", "The Simpsons", "Family Guy", and "South Park". Guess which "South Park" episode is nominated? That’s right. The Tom Cruise in the closet episode.

Humina-humina-humina-humina… Darren Aronofsky’s new film has its first trailer and it’s a doozy of stunning visuals and mind blowing effects.

And finally, Hubs, had a couple of fun posts this week. The first was a list of tips for beating the heat. The second is post about World Jump Day (which was Thursday) and some links to other jump inspired sites. In celebration, here are my very own jump pictures:
