Get An iLife, Dickweed!

Tuesday, May 2nd, 2006 at 6:20 pm

Apple has launched their newest ad campaign in an attempt to get more people away from the PC world and, again, the ads’ look and feel are clean, fun and ‘trendy’. The look Apple and Volkswagen have been portraying for years now. Oh, I’m not complaining. I drove home in my Jetta to post this to the blog with my iMac. It made me realize that maybe I am persuaded by image more than I would like to admit.

Then there is the "Virus" ad which is the funniest, but also points more attention to fact that Apple’s virus problem barely scratches those that Microsoft has. My concern is the more Apple draws consumers away, the more virus makers will target the brand. I actually researched antivirus programs today and bought one. We’ll see if the one I chose (Intego’s VirusBarrier) works better than the others I tried a couple of years ago.

See the Get A Mac ads HERE.

And then welcome "VW in the haus" with their last round of hilarious ads that the improv troupe has been quoting for weeks HERE.

Oh!? You got rid of the bug, eh?

  2. Howard Says:

Not yet. Have to wait for the software. Or are you referring to my “other” problems?

:) Not that bug, does your Maccie have a :(

Not that bug either, covered that already, see previous blog post. :)

    Your tricked out ride?

  4. Howard Says:

Naw, the Mac is fine. Just being preventative with it with the increasing amount of virus news for the Mac is all. Plus I have a $50 gift certificate for the Apple store.

My car was never pimped, so there is no need to unpimp it. It’s definitely not sucking.

So much for being a little vague. Let me try the direct approach. :) So you got rid of your (tricked out) VW BUG and got a VW Jetta. Focus here. ;) Granted this new acquisition may have happened some time ago for all I know.

  6. Howard Says:

Okay, so you obviously know me. :) The Beetle’s lease was up two December’s ago and I wanted to buy this time. VW Credit ‘owned’ the Beetle and my credit had sunk due to me not having a full-time job for a year or so.

The Jetta was a nice alternative. It’s the same year and engine as the Beetle, just with a white Jetta exterior. Wow, that story was so exciting, I’m going to have refrain from blogging it in case I cause a heart attack with the excitment.

I think most mac users worry that our computers will get a little too popular and become a) the target of virus writers and b) the recipient of a lot of crappy software.

I also think that we mac users kind of get off on the fact that PC owners toil in spyware, viruses, and such while there’s a better solution out there.

  11. Howard Says:

True on both points, Spence. I’ll still feel better when the antivirus software shows up though. The one I picked also scans for Windows viruses, too, which is nice since my roomies have a PC computer on our home network.
