Zombies In Las Vegas… New Mexico!

Tuesday, January 31st, 2006

Holy Crap!

What’s the world to do? Zombies!

Just sit back and enjoy. The latest report from Cypress Films is that there may be some clips from that zombie short film mentioned in an earlier blog on their website as soon as this week.

Well, I promised some pictures and instead of just throwing a website together to show them off, I, in my dorkiness, spent two hours producing some music in GarageBand and creating a slideshow in iPhoto to show them off.

What was I thinking? Oh, yeah, I love my Apple computer and have all this cool software.

You’ll need Quicktime to view the movie.

Best Song Oscar® Prediction

Tuesday, January 31st, 2006

Nominees:
“In The Deep” from CRASH
A song that continually preaches that you are indeed watching a Hollywood film that has meaning although you refuse to believe it.

“It’s Hard Out Here For A Pimp” from HUSTLE & FLOW
Meant to help you identify with a pimp even while he’s choking one of his beeshes. Should win simply because the Academy nominated something with the word ‘pimp’ in it.

“Travelin’ Thru” from TRANSAMERICA
A song written and performed by Dolly Parton whose appearance would lead you to believe she’s a woman undergoing surgery to become a woman.

THE WINNER?
“Travelin’ Thru” because Dolly is just so darn likeable and entertaining, plus she’s a recognizable name. And everyone loves her from 9 TO 5. No, the movie. The love flows 24 hours a day.

COMMENTARY
Where the heck is “A Love That Will Never Grow Old” from BROKEBACK MOUNTAIN? I wanted to see Emmylou Harris perform!

Diary Entry III

Sunday, January 29th, 2006

Just got back from Las Vegas. New Mexico! My film-making friends (Cypress Film Labs) live down there now and were making a zombie short film tentatively called “Chicken Soup For The Zombie Soul”. It was a lot of fun hanging with my friend, Lindsey, as she planned my zombie bride so to speak. I got to be one of the “alpha” zombies with her and Matt2 from the Monkeys took the lead character role. I didn’t see anything they shot Saturday morning or afternoon, but he did a great job last night and today. I don’t have any pics as I left my camera with Leslie and will get it back soon and post a couple of pictures. It was great fun. More to come…

Freaky iPod III

Just got back from seeing the Aimee Mann concert from the 2nd row with Larry. The evening started over at his house giving him some pointers for formatting posts to The Monkey Blog. While he was getting ready, I was entertaining his oldest daughter by singing along to They Might Be Giants‘ “In The Middle, In The Middle, In The Middle” from their kids album No!. As if to bring the entire evening full circle, the song iTunes started playing when I was ready to head to bed was, you got it, They Might Be Giants’ “In The Middle, In The Middle, In The Middle”. A good sign, I’d say.

Listening to: Superball - Aimee Mann (coz she played it coz I screamed for it when she asked for requests)
